A plus-sized boob

Julian Macdonald has outraged women all over the UK after a comment, where the designer who is a judge on TV show Britain’s Next Top Model, branded larger models ‘a joke’.

Considering the designers collections are available up to a size 20, this is a serious faux-pas and particularly insulting to the female population. Models that are dress sizes 6 and 8 are simply not representative of the average woman, who is a dress size 14-16. Our sales also support this trend as 40% of Eveden’s total brief sales are sizes large (size 16) and above.

Here at Eveden, manufacturers of lingerie and swimwear we insist on using models that reflect the every day woman, whilst still being aspirational. Ann-Marie Manley, Head of Marketing says “It is important to us to use models with curves, that women can relate to and that show our products off to their full potential.” Manley goes on to say “The model we currently use for our Fantasie brand is a size 10, and our fuller figured lingerie brand, Elomi, uses models that are a size 16. We feel that by using these models we are showing how our product looks on real women.”

As fuller bust and fuller figure specialists, we are passionate about showing the world that one shape and size does not fit all and we should all take note of Julian Macdonald’s public mistake and be careful not to alienate the women who buy our products.
